Trail Information:

The route leaves Rezan by road, then begins a slow climb through the hills on the south side of the valley. Mostly it follows a 4x4 tracks, passing through a small village. This area is the famous Balakayati region, and the route is surrounded by high, dramatic mountains, often covered in snow in winter and spring. There is a gradual climb to a small pass, crossing two small streams. From here there is a clear view of Halgurd to the north-east, and Sakran to the south-east. In the distance is the border with Iran.

The route descends to Nawdaran village, then joins a small paved road to enter the town of Choman. Choman has multiple homestay options, as well as restaurants and shops. It is also the base for the tour operators and guides who can facilitate trips to climb Halgurd, which is an option for those experienced with basic mountaineers, when they complete the ZMT.
